Classes of Heavy Vehicles.

The Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) classifies heavy vehicles into three categories to regulate access for different vehicle types.

This chart highlights some of the most common heavy vehicle combinations within each class as outlined in the HVNL. It is not an exhaustive list of all heavy vehicle configurations in Australia, and other combinations exist that are not shown here.

The chart provides examples from the three vehicle classes for reference only. For official definitions, please consult the relevant sections of the HVNL.
